My Secret Romance

In all honesty, I did not have high expectations for this drama. It seemed like an interesting concept, similar to Fated to Love You in the sense that the two leads fall in love after having spent a drunken night together, and I was curious to watch something different from typical Korean drama story lines. The synopsis of this drama stars Cha Jin Wook (Sung Hoon) a playboy heir tired of his partying days, and Lee Yoo Mi (Song Ji Eun), an aspiring nutritionist, who meet on the way to a sea-side hotel. Years later, they fatefully cross paths as Lee Yoo Mi begins working as a nutritionist at the renowned underwear company Cha Jin Wook has slaved away creating for the past three years. Will Jin Wook and Yoo Mi start anew or was their relationship nothing more than a one night stand?

While this drama had some pretty adorable moments and plenty of kiss scenes,

it was also kind of cringe-y at times. The acting and chemistry were definitely not the best, as it was awkward and too unbelievable at times (*Insert fake hiccups here*).

I understand that Song Ji Eun started out as an idol, but she still needs a lot of practice in acting. As for Sung Hoon, he has been in some recognizable dramas in the past (for example Oh My Venus and Faith), but he’s still got a ways to go in respect to male lead roles. This drama was also characteristically out there! A nutritionist, an underwear company CEO and an ex-erotic actress?! By far my favorite character was Secretary Jang because he was so darn sassy!

All in all, this was a cute but weird romantic comedy, and would only recommend it if you really want to watch a rom-com with lots of fluff, an out of the ordinary story line and awkward acting.

On another note, I just had to share this meme! This ahjumma is just too savage! Lol.
